The Space Between What Was and What's Next

A few weeks ago, I felt like everything was uncertain.

Plans weren't moving as quickly as I hoped. Some opportunities I thought would work out didn't.

Naturally, my first instinct was to tighten my grip.

To create a better plan. To work harder. To control every outcome.

But coaching has taught me something important:

Growth rarely happens when everything feels comfortable and predictable.

Growth often happens in the space between what was and what's next.

The challenge is that most of us want clarity before we take the next step.

We want the job offer before we believe in ourselves. We want the client before we call ourselves a business owner. We want certainty before we move forward.

But life doesn't usually work that way.

Sometimes we're asked to move before we have all the answers.

Over the last few weeks, I've been reminded that identity often shifts before circumstances do.

For years, I've introduced myself primarily as a recruiter who also coaches.

Lately, I've been challenged to consider a different question:

What if coaching isn't something I do?

What if it's who I am?

That shift may seem subtle, but it changes everything.

When we start seeing ourselves differently, we make different decisions. We pursue different opportunities. We show up with a different level of confidence.

And slowly, the external world begins to catch up with the internal transformation.

I'm still building.I'm still learning.I'm still navigating uncertainty.

But I've stopped waiting for everything to be figured out before moving forward.

Instead, I'm focusing on trust.

Trusting my experience. Trusting my preparation. Trusting that the opportunities meant for me will require action, not perfection.

If you're in a season of uncertainty, ask yourself:

Who are you becoming through this experience?

Because sometimes the most important breakthrough isn't the opportunity that arrives.

It's the person you become while waiting for it.

Until next time, keep chasing your dreams!
