The Pivot I Didn’t Plan For

A few months ago, I made one of the most unexpected decisions of my adult life.

I chose to terminate my lease within 30 days without having another apartment lined up yet.

Stressful? Absolutely!

But deep down, I knew I needed a change and I trusted the process enough to take the leap.

Fast forward a few months later, and I’m now in a place that feels more aligned for this next chapter of my life. Looking back, the stress, uncertainty, and uncomfortable moments were completely worth it.

What I didn’t expect was how much that one decision would shift other areas of my life too.

Shortly after settling into my new place, an opportunity opened up for me to step away from corporate full-time and transition into part-time consulting work temporarily while figuring out what I truly wanted next.

And from there… things just kept aligning.

New opportunities. New conversations. New partnerships. New clarity.

This season has reminded me that careers are no longer linear. Sometimes the most meaningful growth happens in the in-between moments when you stop forcing everything to make sense immediately and allow yourself room to pivot.

I’ve found myself balancing coaching, consulting, entrepreneurship, community work, and creativity in ways I never fully planned for.

And honestly? It’s continuing to teach me that we don’t have to fit ourselves into one box. We’re allowed to do more than one thing, explore different passions, and create careers that evolve alongside us.

The skills we build throughout our careers, communication, relationship building, leadership, adaptability transfer into so many different spaces.

Most importantly, this chapter has reminded me how powerful trusting yourself can be.

Not every pivot will make sense to everyone while you’re in it.

But sometimes the moment that feels the most uncertain ends up leading you exactly where you needed to go.
